Rehabilitation allowance
A person is eligible for rehabilitation allowance if they were injured as a result of an accident at work or an occupational disease that has weakened their functional working capacity or earning potential.
Rehabilitation is granted, if the requirements are fulfilled, as a total measurement to promote the return to working life and to sustain and improve the functional capacity.
Medical rehabilitation is given as non-institutional care or institutional care.
Vocational rehabilitation aiming at the working and functional capacity is accomplished by rehabilitation assessment, work try-out and training. Reasonable costs for rehabilitation and loss of earnings is compensated as rehabilitation allowance during the period of rehabilitation.
Rehabilitation due to a work accident is part of the statutory compensation and is arranged in cooperation with The Insurance Rehabilitation Association, VKK.
Rehabilitation due to a leisure time accident should be applied from Kela, the social insurance institution of Finland, according to the Finnish Health Insurance Act.
