Trauma in shipping
Alandia Loss Prevention, together with Seaways Psychology Services Ltd., is passionate about spreading awareness and improving mental health in shipping for both onboard and onshore personnel. We are interested in finding out more about the experience of psychological trauma at sea and promoting knowledge and awareness regarding traumatic experiences within the shipping industry.
Your organisation has been chosen to participate in our first survey, which investigates experiences of trauma on board. The survey asks participants to comment on their experience of critical incidents at sea, the impact of such incidents on participants, and whether they needed support and had access to it at the time.
The survey is conducted online and all answers are given anonymously. There is no way for those conducting the survey to find out the identity of the repondees or their previous or current employers.
Should survey participants feel the need to talk about their experiences during or following the completion of the survey, support is readily available.
The results of the survey will be shared on 10 November 2021 in an online workshop which focuses on the experience of trauma within the shipping industry. The results will also be made available through articles produced for the maritime sector at large. You will receive an invitation to the workshop where practical tools for managing onboard trauma are provided.
